The illusion of freedom

"The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country." - Edward Bernays

Within our society we like to think of ourselves a free, but outside forces, be they the media, our friends, our family, etc, manipulate us, true freedom requires slipping the bonds of acceptance. Anyone who is concerned about what someone else thinks is a slave, they allow someone else to control their actions, even if they do not realize it.

"Men are used as they use others." - Bidpai

To be a master requires you master yourself first, physically, mentally, emotionally. You must choose your path, not allow others to choose it for you. You must be willing to stand alone while all about you others are insulting you for your choice. You must be true to who you are, and not allow others to change you.

Only then can you begin to be worthy of guiding another. If you cannot be true to yourself, how will you be true to them?

"Love comes when manipulation stops; when you think more about the other person than about his or her reactions to you. When you dare to reveal yourself fully. When you dare to be vulnerable." - Dr. Joyce Brothers

So, are you really free? Have you taken the steps needed to make yourself free? When someone tells you something, do you trust it, or do you seek to learn the truth on your own? The truth has a particular ring to it when you know enough of it, does it ring true in your life? Or are you living a lie?

"No limit people are so in charge that they can trust their instincts, be childlike, be creative and do anything that makes sense to them." - Dr Wayne Dyer
